Flair

Spent most of the weekend working on Flair. I am using KnitPicks Main Line in Antique Rose. It's the first time I've used this yarn and I love it. The blend of cotton and wool makes for a really soft but not squeaky yarn. I'll post a picture soon.

While I was knitting (and watching Buffy, as usual), I was also scanning the knitting patterns I have ripped out of my old magazines and turning them into PDFs so I can trash the originals. It is taking FOREVER! But, once I'm done, I'll know what patterns I have and won't have to depend on those flimsy magazine pages. Slowly but surely.

I am debating on purchasing (which really means I'm waiting for the $$$) some Dream in Color Classy from anyThe Yarn & Fiber Company. My plans include Deep Seaflower for Mr. Greenjeans and In Vino Veritas for Wicked. Also planning to make Koolhaas in Nightwatch. I saw a beautiful one on Ravelry in this color. Desire to make Koolhaas has led me to the "Great Scanning Project of '08". I know I bought the IK it was in but I'm not sure where the pattern is. Surely I kept it. Anyway, I just found YAFC. Don't know how I've missed it up till now. Seems like a great store and the DIC yarn is really affordable (it's all relative)!

Catnip Mouse

A present for my kitties...



Millie is a catnip addict (I'm thinking about enrolling her in a 12-step program). Reaction from the crowd...

...it's a hit! This was a really easy pattern by Jo Chandler. I made it with some leftover Malabrigio so it is a high quality mouse (only the best for my kitties). It's stuffed with some cotton quilting batting, some catnip and, for good measure, a little bell.

Five minutes later...I can't find the mouse. Millie has hidden it in her "nest" (whereever that is).

Amazing Lace pre-post

I have now joined The Amazing Lace! I will be posted the official team photo later (after I've had a shower) . I'm excited about doing this and it has forced me to create a blog, something I've wanted to do for a year but just haven't taken the time. A little about me...I'm married with a dog, 3 cats, 2 turtles and a handful of fish. I'm an accountant (a very exciting career) so I need a fun outlet. Knitting is my obsession! I love the whole process of creating something beautiful from some string and two sticks. I haven't been knitting very long (2 1/2 years) but I've come pretty far in a short time. My first lace project was about a year ago: Phoebe from IK Spring 2005. Then, not too long after, I made Cozy from Knitty.com. These are probably not what some people might consider to be lace but there a lots of holes and its easy to mess up so that classifies them as lace in my book.

Margritte

I am currently working on the Margritte Rectangular Shawl (KK305) by Karabella (sorry for the wrinkly picture). The pattern called for Karabella Margritte but I am substituting Karabella Aurora 4 in Color 9 (salmon-y pink). I think it will be a good substitute but I don't think it will have as much drape as the merino cashmere blend. This is the first time I have used this yarn and I'm finding it a little splitty but it knits up nicely. I purchased the yarn at Stitch DC during a recent trip to Washington, DC (unrelated to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival...I wish I had known it was scheduled for that weekend because our trip was the week before...darn!). I also visited Woolwinders but was unimpressed. Not much assistance or selection. I wanted to visit Knit Happens but we ran out of time. I'm using lifelines with this pattern since I am tired of dropping stitches and "tinking" back several row...grr! I wish I had known about lifelines last year when I made Cozy. I'll post a picture of my progress in the next few days.
